Remember when mixtapes dominated the landscape in hip hop before it the major labels caught wind? On Friday, Dreamville x Gangsta Grillz released D-Day which is met with positive praise from critics and was released right into time for Dreamville Fest which takes place this weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Fans will be delighted to hear DJ Drama’s iconic voice! The mixtape has 15 new tracks from the acclaimed Dreamville roster which includes, JCole, JID, EarthGang, Ari Lennox, Bas, Luke & Omen. The mixtape also hosts several appearances from other notable rappers ranging from A$AP Ferg, a high octane opener from Sheck Wes, 2 Chainz, TDE’s Reason, and Kenny Mason.

Since I am a adamant lover for all things R&B, my two stand out tracks comes from the Dreamville’s First Lady; Ms. Ari Lennox! On the track “Coming Down”, Lennox shines with her interpolation of the classic Rose Royce ballad, “I’m Going Down”. The second song she appeared on entitled “Blackberry Sap” gives the listeners signature Ari. I can’t wait until her sophomore album release!
